Why it’s foolish for us to claim that "We Can Give Our Life To CHRIST”, and why this is such an issue.

The issue I have with this remark is that it ignores the authority and supremacy that GOD almighty harbors. We say life is a gift and yet we complain and make crude remarks that ‘I didn’t ask to be here’, but love to engage in the pleasures it provides. How is it that we can claim that Life is the most beautiful ‘gift’ ever and then make it seem as if it was ours from the beginning? If it was gifted to us at birth, then that insinuates that our life was never ours to begin with. HE gave it to us, which would mean it was and still remains his.
To elucidate this for you, I shall provide you with the same analogy in which Lord Jesus would often use; If a Shepard has his pen of sheep, and one-or lets be honest a few- of them gets lost but becomes found and rejoins the other sheep that rests in the capable Shepard’s care, did the Shepard ever lose ownership of the sheep? Did the sheep ever give anything to the Shepard??
What exactly could the sheep ever give the Shepard to match all that the Shepard has given the sheep???
This may not seem like such a big deal to people, given that the LORD “knows their hearts” and understands their intentions, however, we all know that the road to hell is littered with good intentions. Many times, we say things that we believe to be benign and innocuous, but often have significance in the heavenly places. In the Book of Proverbs, King Solomon writes, “Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.” Proverbs 10:19 NLT.
He continues in a later chapter stating; “Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut, and you will stay out of trouble.” Proverbs 21:23 NLT.
These tenets align marvelously with what LORD Jesus says himself in regards to speaking excessively or without great care in the words, which depart from one’s mouth. “And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.” Matthew 12:36 NLT.
We know that we will eat the fruit of our words, as it must be understood that "it's not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth.” Matthew 15:11 NLT
The purpose I have in writing this is to illustrate that in every instance and in every moment, it is essential to continuously mind our words and to ensure we truly think twice or perhaps even three times when words depart from our lips. Discipline yourself to think of speaking like one would play chess; once you speak a word--Move a piece and place it down on a spot-- you cannot take it back nor change it. Be intentional and decisive when speaking.
Of course, this is by no means an easy task, as we often must train ourselves to eliminate many aphorisms and phrases that we are so accustomed to saying. This is crucial, seeing as how all the things we say, not only are unhelpful but oftentimes are harming and defiling us, even with our innocent intentions.
Remember to only say what is essential. Most of what we say, do, and think is often unnecessary. So don't just speak clearly and concisely, but speak also with Conviction.

Amen to this!! This is so beautifully written. A true reminder that our breath, our being, and our words are gifts from God. They aren’t ours to claim, but to glorify Him with.
